fall-2016-launch

It’s time to make a move from the coastal beaches of California to the big city. Our golf and surf roots will never go away, no number on the NASDAQ can change that, but as we enter the big city there is an aura in the air that is more mature. Never abandon your roots, but build upon them. The adventure continues but in a new way.

These fresh styles will take you on a journey down the bustling streets of the city, but will carry a sense of the coast – with the same unique functionality and adaptable fabrications that we have been known for. Come with us on this new adventure as we showcase this unique union of the coast and the city.

Max-Homa-Wins-the-Rust-Oleum-Championship

TravisMathew would like to congratulate team member Max Homa on his sensational Web.com win at the Rust-Oleum Championship yesterday! Max had to overcome a seven stroke lead to win the tournament and beat out another TravisMathew team member, John Mallinger who finished the tournament T2.

“It feels a little surreal. I don’t think it will sink in until tonight or tomorrow, but I feel very proud.” Said Homa.

The win earned Max a cool $108,000 and bumped him up on the Web.com money list from 52nd to 9th, putting him in good contention for his PGA Player Card.

Charley Hoffman

It’s been an interesting past few weeks for Charley Hoffman, having come so close to winning on several occasions. It was only a matter of time that lady luck shined some light on him and it couldn’t have come at a better time than at the Valero Texas Open.

Players rose and fell constantly throughout the week and into the weekend, but Charley stayed consistent and held on. It all came down to the final day, the final hole, and the final stroke. Charley walked onto the final hole of the tournament tied with Patrick Reed and needed to sink a 10-foot putt for the win. He sank it and celebrated with a vigorous fist pump! What a finish and what a win!

The amazing win bumped Charley up to 18th on the FedexCup rankings and 34th in the world. We wish him the best of luck and hope his strong play continues!

We had our TravisMathew for President candidate come visit TravisMathew HQ during our Warehouse Sale! This could be the first time we’ve had a potential ruler of the free world walk through our doors, and we have to admit, he made an impressive entrance. It’s not everyday you see someone walk into a room with a gigantic custom piñata behind them while walking through a confetti shower, but I guess anything is possible at TravisMathew.

He had the chance to meet with some of our shoppers and discuss some important topics over the course of 11 minutes he was here. He definitely made a long-lasting impression with the people who were here. Stay tuned for more from the campaign trail! #TM4President

One of our favorite tournaments of the year has kicked off, the Northern Trust Open! Maybe we like it because it’s in our own backyard, or maybe we like it because it’s held at the famous, Riviera Country Club, or maybe it’s both. This year is special though because we’ve taken our West Coast Tour Bus to the famous course and set up camp for the tournament. Here are our Top 10 Favorite Things About the Northern Trust Open.

10. Riviera Country Club

The Northern Trust Open is held at the famous Riviera Country Club, and believe it or not, the course is 90-years-old. That’s pretty crazy. This golf course has seen some unbelievable battles during its history, and has been home to Majors like the US Open in 1948, The PGA Championship in 1983 and in 1995, and the US Senior Open in 1998. A lot of great players have walked through the clubhouse, so it makes sense why this course and the Northern Trust Open ranks as one of our favorites.

9. Tiger Woods’ First PGA Tournament

That’s right, before Tiger became the Tiger we know, he played his first PGA event as an amateur at age 16. He shot a 72 and a 75 and missed the cut, but that wouldn’t be the only time he would play the Northern Trust Open, however, during the course of his career, he hasn’t been able to win the event.

8. Ben Hogan Dominates Riviera

Ben Hogan was a force to be reckoned with in his day. He won his first tournament here in 1942, and continued to be successful at Riviera with back-to-back wins in 1948. It’s no wonder that Riviera has been dubbed, “Hogan’s Alley.”

7. Hole 1

The first hole is beautiful. It’s a relatively easy (for all of you great golfers out there) 503-Yard Par 5, with a tee box that sits 70 feet above the fairway. If you can get your tee shot placed well, it’s definitely reachable in two, which means we’ll be putting our orders on your tab if you sink that eagle putt.

6. Hole 10

Yes, one of the best looking holes on the course, and in golf in general, is Hole 10. If you’ve got what it takes, this Par 4 is definitely drivable. At 315 yards, you have to be willing to take a risk for a potential huge reward. If you miss, you better bring beach ball because you’re next shot will most likely be played from a bunker. If you’re accurate though, you’re sitting pretty, and putting for eagle. Go for it, guy!

5. Lanny Wadkins

Who is Lanny Wadkins you ask? Oh, just the guy who holds the overall tournament score record of 264, which is 20-under par. He shot that record in 1985 and it has stood the test of time since then. A few players have come close (Mike Weir with a 267 in 2004), but no one has beat it, which is why it’s the longest standing PGA Tour Course record on the schedule. Maybe one of our guys will break it this year.

4. Riviera’s Members

The home of the Northern Trust Open is also home to some very famous members over the years, and current ones like our friend Mark Wahlberg, Adam Sandler, Larry David, and Luke Wilson to name a few. Other famous members have included Humphrey Bogart, Walt Disney, Glen Campbell, Peter Falk, and Dean Martin. Can you imagine a foursome with some of those guys?

3. Hole 6

The Northern Trust Open also has one of the most interesting greens that you’ll ever see on tour. Riviera’s famous sixth green has a bunker smack dab in the middle of it, making for some very challenging pin placements, and putts. Can you imagine just hitting your ball so pure only to watch you ball land in bunker here? It definitely gives off that miniature golf vibe, which is sweet, but not when we’re trying to beat the course record. We’ll just have to go to our happy place when we face danger here.

2. Back-to-Back Victories

The Northern Trust Open has also had its fair share of back-to-back champions, with seven total players accomplishing that feat over the years. That’s pretty incredible if you ask us.

1. The Northern Trust Open is in Los Angeles

The thing we love most about the Northern Trust Open is that this historic event is right in our own backyard. There’s just something about having this tournament right up the road, and this year is definitely special because we have our West Coast Tour Bus parked at the promenade by the 15th tee box. This gives us the chance to watch the tournament from the comfort of our own bus, play some cornhole, and root for our TravisMathew team. This is going to be a great weekend!

Our TravisMathew for President campaign is underway and our candidate has been lucky to meet some great people along the campaign trail. We took a detour and decided to head to Orlando, FL to check out this year’s PGA Merchandise Show, and get a first-hand look at the TravisMathew booth, spread our message, and meet some potential voters.

We also attended the TravisMathew party and had an impromptu rally to get some real folks excited about our candidacy. #TM4President

Top 10 Moments of the Big Game

How much fun did you guys have watching the big game yesterday? If you’re like us (which we think you are) you were pretty much glued to the TV. Here are our Top 10 favorite moments from yesterday’s game.

#10-Tom Brady Being Booed During MVP Introductions

Ouch. We know that Tom Brady isn’t liked by a lot of football fans, but you’d expect him to get a little love from the Bay Area, especially since he’s from San Mateo, CA. Not the case because the stadium quickly greeted him with boos, or were they saying booooorady? I guess as long as you’re still an active player, there won’t be much cheering for Tom on the West Coast until he retires. Regardless, it looks like the boos didn’t deflate him in anyway.

#9- The Lady Gaga Hunger Games Meme

We’ve never seen the Hunger Games, but we appreciate a good meme when we see one, which is why we thought these memes was hilarious.

#8- Cam Newton Not Diving After the Ball

Uhhh, Cam, you were only six points away from tying the game, and seven points from taking the lead at this point in the game. It’s the biggest game in your career and everything is on the line, so you should’ve taken a dive to recover that ball. More time diving and less time dabbing.

#7- Eli Manning has no Emotion

Oh sibling rivalry is alive and well in the Manning household. Not even a grin, Eli? How do they get along during the holidays? Free polo to anyone that can provide us with some stories from the dinner table.

#6-Marshawn Lynch Retiring

We’ll miss you Marshawn. Thanks for the memories. We’ll always know why you’re here.

#5-Cam Newton Walking Out of his Press Conference

We get it Cam, you’ve just lost the biggest game of your professional career, but this is a part of the deal. You have to chat to the media, regardless if you win or lose.

#4-Halftime Show

What happens when you mix three artists during the prime of their career? One incredible halftime performance. Even though Coldplay was on the top of the bill, it was clear that Beyoncé stole the show. All hail Queen Bey!

#3-The Commercials

One of the best parts of the game is obviously watching the commercials during the break. We definitely laughed pretty hard at a few like the Heinz and Doritos commercials and scratched our collective heads at a couple and have come to the conclusion that we’re very afraid of that puppybaby thing, and can’t erase the image of Willem Dafoe in a dress from our heads.

#2-Peyton Manning Becoming the Winningest QB in NFL History

Congrats to Peyton Manning for becoming the QB with the most wins in NFL history. Pretty incredible accomplishment if you ask us. We once at an entire plate of wings in less than seven minutes, so there’s that.

#1-Papa John Hugging Peyton Manning

Boy, that was awkward.
