Chris Kirk wins at Colonial

May 25, 2015

A very hearty congratulations to TravisMathew team member Chris Kirk on his win at the Crowne Plaza Invitational. Kirk himself admitted that he didn't exactly have his "A" game on Sunday. Thanks to some clutch putting and two back to back up and downs on 17 & 18 he was able to setup a 5-foot par putt for the win.

“Kind of surprised that I’m sitting here with y’all at the moment. Every other time that I’ve either won or been in this position, I really felt great about pretty much all aspects of my game. To be able to do it when I didn’t really feel like I quite had it... is a huge step for me."

Kirk had entered the day tied for fourth, but made an impact right away rolling in a 14-foot eagle putt on the par-5 first. He battled swing issues all day off the tee, even leaving his driver in the bag on the all important 18th hole. Despite not feeling 100% about his game he gave up only one bogey and rattled off three pars to make up the ground needed to win at Colonial.

This also marks yet another win for former Georgia Bulldogs who have been lighting up the FedEx Cup rankings and tournament leaderboards since mid last year. Everyone at TravisMathew is extremely proud of Chris and with 3 wins under his belt we look forward to his ever promising future.
